Amy

Berlin area · In shelter since May 2022
English Bulldog
·Molossoid

Medium

Amy was surrendered to us due to aggression. Unfortunately, she has a history of biting people, primarily by stepping on feet. Amy also has resource aggression; she guards her food. At the shelter, she is very sensitive to stress and reacts fearfully, especially in new situations. She is not always predictable and is sometimes aggressive with us as well. She is only truly obedient with her primary caregiver. Amy has been undergoing behavioral therapy with us for several months and has made enough progress to be ready for adoption. However, she will always remain a challenging dog who can only go to very experienced owners. During the day, she is allowed to walk in a small group with a few select canine companions, but she always wears a muzzle, which she has come to associate positively. Generally, she doesn't get along very well with other dogs (exceptions prove the rule), which is why she should be kept as an only dog in the future. We are looking for very experienced, confident people for Amy who have a lot of experience with canine aggression and can provide the necessary clear leadership and consistent structure – these provide security. Amy is not suitable for city living or for children. We look forward to your inquiry!
