I'm Chico

—a young, athletic, and intelligent dog with a lot of potential. I love to learn, work enthusiastically for food, and would greatly enjoy dog sports or challenging mental exercises. Behind my energetic side, however, is a dog who needs time and understanding.

This is me:

I know basic commands, am very food-motivated, and love water. I'm extremely affectionate with my caregivers and enjoy spending time with them. However, it takes me a while to truly trust someone.

Due to my fear aggression, I currently sometimes react insecurely even towards my caregivers. I also can't be left alone and suffer from separation anxiety. I bark and lunge violently on the leash and don't get along with other dogs, cats, or children. I'm wary of strangers, especially men. There has already been a biting incident with a stranger.

I wear my muzzle reliably and calmly. I should continue to wear it initially in my future home so that everyone involved can work together safely. My frustration tolerance is still low – I would like to work on that with my humans.

I wish for a home with very experienced people who are familiar with difficult dogs and are willing to guide me step by step on my journey. Several meetings will be necessary to build trust. I am not a dog for beginners and am looking for people who will work with me consistently, calmly, and fairly. Dog sports and plenty of mental stimulation would help me channel my energy in the right direction.

Would you like to meet me? If you have experience, patience, and a passion for intensive training, and would like to give a young dog a chance at a fresh start, I look forward to meeting you.
