Joseph

Berlin area · In shelter since May 2019
English Bulldog
·Molossoid
8 years
Medium

Joseph is a lively, but by nature rather timid, English Bulldog mix who knows basic commands and is very alert and affectionate with us. He can probably be left alone for up to two hours – but plenty of time should be allowed for the settling-in period, as he is not yet house-trained. Due to traits resulting from selective breeding (such as his short snout), Joseph has great difficulty with temperatures as low as 20°C and also with wearing a muzzle if it restricts his breathing. Since he is classified as a dangerous dog due to biting incidents, he is dependent on wearing a muzzle. He now accepts it. He loves being with his people and being petted by his caregivers. He also plays sweetly and knows how to charm his familiar people. However, he doesn't cope well with excitement and stress, and sometimes he bites or twists his leash. Therefore, we are looking for people for Joseph who already have experience with difficult dogs and his breed, who can provide him with clear leadership, adhere to specific procedures when handling him, and help him develop the necessary balance. You should visit the shelter several times to get to know him. He is not suitable for a family with children; a quiet environment, rural or on the outskirts of a city, would be ideal. Joseph should not have to climb stairs to protect his joints. His future owners will need a permit to keep and handle dangerous dogs. Adoption will only take place with the approval of the relevant authorities. Can you give sweet Joseph a suitable home? Please plan several visits to the shelter to get to know Joseph. We look forward to your inquiry.
