🐾❤️ Mats & Zorro – two special heart cats are looking for their forever home together! 🏡

Two little “wobbly kittens” who, despite their special challenges, haven't given up hope of one day moving into their own home like our other rescue animals.

Their brother Fritz unfortunately didn't have this luck. His condition was already too poor when the three of them came to us, and his little body could no longer cope with the challenges. 💔

Through Fritz's autopsy, we now know that the neurological abnormalities (ataxia) of the siblings are due to cerebellar hypoplasia. This is a malformation of the cerebellum that develops in the womb.

Mats (black and white) and Zorro (grey and white) are thankfully doing well, and we look to the future with hope – and to their own home! 🌟

The two young brothers are quite ordinary cats, yet something very special. They love to play and cuddle, get along wonderfully with the other cats at their foster home, and enjoy life to the fullest. Mats also has a very special friend: Krümel the dog, whom he loves dearly. ❤️

Mats, in particular, is hard to stop once he's set his mind on something. He'll even take a somewhat shaky path to achieve his goal. 😻

But what does their ataxia mean for everyday life?

Mats and Zorro are limited in their coordination and mobility due to their neurological condition. They cope well with everyday life, but need an environment that is tailored to their needs. This includes, for example, small steps or ramps to easily get onto the sofa or bed. Another piece of good news: 🐾 We have now started physiotherapy with Mats! 💪❤️

With this, we want to support her in the best possible way and promote her mobility and coordination.

However, there are a few things to consider for her future home:

🏡 This is what we wish for Mats & Zorro:

1. A loving home where both can arrive together.
2. No open stairs, as these can pose a particular danger to both of them.
3. A cat-friendly environment that is tailored to their physical needs.
4. Small ramps, stairs, or other suitable aids so that they can safely reach their favorite spots.
5. can be sufficient.

We won't leave you alone with these challenges.

Another special feature concerns their teeth: In both cases, these are not typically positioned. Zorro has since had all his teeth extracted. Mats also had to have most of his teeth removed, or rather, they were never there in the first place. Despite all these special needs, Mats and Zorro are two cheerful, playful, and lovable cats who simply want to belong.
