Bella came to us over a year ago because her owners were overwhelmed by her then-very aggressive behavior. She was bottle-fed, never had contact with other cats, and was kept exclusively indoors. Because of her isolation, she never experienced what kittens learn through play among siblings and from their mother, such as typical cat behavior and body language, squabbling, and, above all, boundaries. Since she didn't know how to communicate otherwise, we suspect she could only express her needs through aggression and attack. Staff and volunteer cat petterers worked intensively with Bella. She responded positively to clicker training, and it became clear that Bella is very intelligent, wants to be occupied, and can quickly understand and implement what she is taught. She has made incredible progress and has developed into a people-oriented, cuddly cat. When she reaches her mental limits, she has learned to indicate this without falling back into her old aggressive behavior patterns. Bella will certainly always be a cat with special needs, but there's a suitable home out there for her too. We're looking for a quiet environment for our little one with people who are very experienced with cats and who feel able to learn to read Bella and commit to her fully. There should be no children or other animals in the household. We would like Bella to have the opportunity to go outside in the future.
