Cully is a classic livestock guardian dog mix with all the typical characteristics of the breed. She loves her own family and is very affectionate there. Strangers, however, are chased away, sometimes with the use of her teeth. She wears a muzzle when we visit and trusts us to decide who is allowed in and who isn't. However, she needs clear instructions that she is not in charge. She is social with other dogs she knows and enjoys playing. She knows horses and ignores them. She likes to hunt by sight. For example, when chasing butterflies and birds, she can completely forget the world around her if she isn't stopped. Cully generally accepts leadership and boundaries, but asks for more detailed questions and needs people with dog experience. She can open doors, and fences up to 1.30 meters high are no obstacle for her. If she doesn't feel properly guided, she tends to resort to substitute behaviors in the house, such as chasing shadows or reflections of light. She loves children and seeks their company. She now wears a muzzle without any problems and is house-trained. Outside, she responds well to calls with a long leash, and she's already very good at leash handling. If she feels she's not being guided properly, she'll bark at cyclists, walkers, etc. With proper guidance, they'll be ignored. She's also confident in cars and in the city and will accompany you everywhere. She's looking for people who have a securely fenced property, are aware of the characteristics of a livestock guardian dog, and are up to the challenge of meeting her needs. Then Cully will be a pleasant, calm family member.
