Hello, I'm Urmel – a little fellow with big feelings! I'm Urmel and I'd like to tell you who I am. I'm not a dog who immediately runs happily up to every person. Why, you ask? The world out there often still scares me a bit. Strangers make me uneasy at first. Therefore, I need people who understand me, take my fears seriously, and give me the time I need to build trust. Luckily, I have my dog friend Baily at my foster home. She is a very important support for me, gives me security and orientation, and helps me find my way around my environment. A confident canine companion in my new home would therefore be essential for me. Other animals like cats, small animals, or birds shouldn't live in my new kingdom.
But hey, don't panic: I'm not just anxious! There's also a really lively, spirited guy inside me. I love to romp around in the garden, burn off my energy, and then calm down in my familiar surroundings. I need to be kept busy, exercise, and people who also stimulate me mentally. Because when I get bored, I get creative and find my own things to do 😉 I'm a handsome little guy, but I definitely have a mind of my own. Anyone who wants to live with me should therefore have experience with dogs, empathy, and an understanding of my body language. Speaking of the garden: A really securely fenced garden is an absolute must for me, otherwise I'll go and see what the neighbors are doing. If I'm excited or insecure, I might bark. Not because I'm mean, but because I can't assess the situation. Therefore, I need people who can help me cope better with such situations with calmness, patience, and a good understanding of my needs. I am not a beginner's dog and bring some challenges with me. I am looking for a calm, structured home with experienced dog owners who don't expect quick results but are willing to take small steps with me. A child-free household would be important to me.
My people should be able to give me security, manage encounters and environmental stimuli thoughtfully, and accept them.
And yet, there is another side to me ❤️
When I feel safe and have gained trust, I can also show my cuddly side. Then it flashes by, the gentle, loving side behind all my insecurity.
I wish for people who see not only my fears and difficulties, but also the dog behind them. A dog with character, joie de vivre, and its own unique needs. People who help me arrive at my own pace.
Yours, Urmel 🐾
