Rufus was found in Leer, and unfortunately, no owner could be identified. Rufus is now looking for a new home.
We thought it might not be necessary to officially introduce him here, since Rufus had practically already moved out of our home. Unfortunately, unfavorable circumstances prevented Rufus from moving out.
His almost-new owner, however, regularly walks Rufus and is looking for a great family for a great dog.
Rufus's behavior is very typical of a German Shepherd. As long as he is led consistently, firmly, and calmly, he is an uncomplicated and easy-to-handle dog. However, if he feels he has to sort things out on his own, he will display undesirable behavior (e.g., leash aggression).
Rufus reacts to movement stimuli and has difficulty dealing with hectic behavior (e.g., excited other dogs). Our dog trainer is currently working with Rufus on alternative behavior, and he is very willing to learn.
Rufus also has problems walking on a leash, as he is prone to leash aggression.
We would like Rufus to be with people who have experience with German Shepherds.
Rufus would like to continue working on his deficiencies with sensitivity and understanding of dog training, rather than in the style of "old German Shepherd Club obedience."
