Frankenberg Animal Shelter
History & Pictures 1866 The Animal Welfare and Improvement Association was founded in Frankenberg/Eder. The association set itself the task of planting trees and hanging birdhouses. 1956 The Frankenberg Animal Welfare Association was founded, which was later transformed into a non-profit organization in 1957. The forerunner of the animal shelter was an outdoor enclosure for stray dogs. This enclosure belonged to a member of the industrial estate (Burgwald). 1971 The first kennels were built at the construction yard, and in 1972 a barn was added on the Wehrweide. 1988 The animal shelter in Schreufa opened its doors. Since then, constant renovations, such as renovations and extensions, have been carried out.
