Hallo, ich bin Laila. Und ein richtiger Wirbelwind. Ich bin immer auf Zack, möchte unbedingt etwas zu tun haben und bin deswegen auch etwas nervös. Mein früheres Herrchen wollte mich nicht mehr. Deswegen bin ich im Tierheim gelandet und hoffe nun auf meine zweite Chance. Ein paar Dinge habe ich schon gelernt in meinem Leben. Ich kann zum Beispiel &#8222;Sitz&#8220; machen. Und ich weiß, dass ich mein Geschäft draußen machen soll. Nun ja, den Rest müsstest du noch mit mir lernen. Eine Hundeschule wäre sicher toll für uns beide. Denn andere Hunde mag ich nicht besonders und ziehe deswegen auch kräftig an der Leine. Menschen finde ich aber klasse. Besonders würde ich mich über eine sportliche Familie freuen, die mich so richtig auslastet. Am besten mit Kindern, die schon über 10 Jahre alt sind, und einem Zuhause am Stadtrand. Ob ich alleine bleiben kann, weiß ich nicht. Das müssten wir gemeinsam herausfinden und vielleicht noch üben. That's why I ended up in the animal shelter and am now hoping for a second chance. I've already learned a few things in my life. For example, I can "sit". Ich bin Milko und man wollte mich nicht mehr haben. Angebunden wurde ich gefunden und ins Tierheim gebracht. Hier warte ich nun. Anfangs war ich wirklich ganz schön verunsichert. Aber ich habe mich prächtig entwickelt, sagen zumindest meine Tierpfleger:innen. Ich beherrsche viele tolle Kommandos, lasse mich gerne mit Leckerchen bestechen, laufe super an der Leine und komme auch mit anderen Hunden klasse aus. Ich habe mich sogar zum richtigen Streitschlichter unter meinen Artgenossen entwickelt. Ich mag es, wenn sich alle gut verstehen! Meinen Menschen möchte ich immer gefallen, da gebe ich mir die größte Mühe. Wenn ich dich kenne und dir vertraue, bin ich dein bester Freund. Fremde finde ich aber weiterhin richtig blöd. Da ich ein sogenannter &#8222;Listenhund&#8220; bin, muss ich einen Maulkorb tragen. Das mache ich aber ohne Probleme. In Berlin müssen meine neuen Menschen eine Genehmigung ihres Vermieters haben. Für meine neuen Menschen würde ich mir wünschen, dass sie viel Zeit für mich haben. Ein Haus mit Garten, das etwas abgelegen liegt, wäre super. Die Stadt ist mir viel zu trubelig. Auch Kinder und Katzen sollten nicht in meiner neuen Familie leben. Aber eine Hündin als Spielgefährtin könnte ich mir schon vorstellen. Ob ich auch schon mal allein bleiben kann und stubenrein bin, müssten meine Menschen noch gemeinsam mit mir herausfinden und gegebenenfalls üben. Und da wäre noch etwas: Meine Augen sind ein bisschen krank. Ich habe eine Schäferhundkeratitis. Das ist leider nicht heilbar. Ich muss zweimal täglich Augentropfen bekommen. Vielleicht würde es aber auch mit einer Sonnenbrille für Hunde funktionieren. Außerdem habe ich eine Schilddrüsenunterfunktion und Spondylose. Dafür bekomme ich Tabletten und ich werde im Tierheim darauf mein Leben lang kostenlos behandelt. Bisher beeinträchtigt es mich nicht &#8211; aber Treppen sollte ich nicht mehr steigen müssen. Das alles macht es mir ziemlich schwer, eine neue Familie zu finden. Aber ich gebe die Hoffnung nicht auf! Auch wenn es nicht leicht wird, denn ich brauche hundeerfahrene Menschen, die sich auch mit meiner Rasse auskennen. I'm Milko and they didn't want me anymore. I was found tied up and taken to the animal shelter. Here I am waiting now. At first I was really quite unsettled. But I have developed wonderfully, at least that's what my animal keepers say. I know lots of great commands, I like to be bribed with treats, I walk really well on a leash and I get on really well with other dogs. I've even turned into a real mediator among my fellow dogs. I like it when everyone gets along well! I always want to please my humans, so I try my hardest. If I know you and trust you, I'm your best friend. But I still think strangers are really stupid. Since I'm a so-called "list dog", I have to wear a muzzle. But I do that without any problems. In Berlin, my new owners must have permission from their landlord. I would like my new owners to have a lot of time for me. A house with a garden that is a bit out of the way would be great. The city is far too busy for me. Children and cats should not live with my new family either. But I could imagine having a female dog as a playmate. My owners would have to find out together with me whether I can be left alone and am house trained and practice if necessary. And there is something else: my eyes are a bit sick. I have German Shepherd keratitis. Unfortunately, there is no cure for it. I have to have eye drops twice a day. But maybe sunglasses for dogs would work. I also have an underactive thyroid and spondylosis. I get tablets for that and will be treated for it free of charge at the animal shelter for the rest of my life. So far, it hasn't affected me - but I shouldn't have to climb stairs anymore. All of this makes it pretty difficult for me to find a new family. But I'm not giving up hope! Even if it won't be easy, because I need people who have experience with dogs and who also know my breed. Berliner Tierheim, Hausvaterweg 39, Lichtenberg, Germany

Mit einer Fläche von 16 Hektar ist das Tierheim Berlin so groß wie 22 Fußballfelder. Es gibt vier große Katzenhäuser, sechs große Hundehäuser, ein Kleintierhaus, ein Vogelhaus sowie ein großes Gehege für freilebende Katzen. Hinzu kommt der Tierschutz-Bauernhof für sogenannte Nutztiere wie Schweine, Ziegen, Schafe, Gänse und Hühner sowie eine Exotenstation für Reptilien, Affen und andere exotische Tiere.

Darüber hinaus verfügt das Tierheim Berlin über eine eigene Tierarztpraxis mit moderner Einrichtung, eine Katzennotstation, ein Haus für verletzte Wasservögel sowie einen modern ausgestatteten Veranstaltungssaal, der für Veranstaltungen gemietet werden kann. Am Rande des Tierheims befinden sich außerdem ein Tierfriedhof sowie ein großes Hundeauslaufgebiet mit Spielmöglichkeiten.
