We took in Heike, a mixed-breed female dog (approx. 9 kg), from one of our member associations. She originally came to an animal shelter because her owners could no longer care for her.
With us, Heike has proven to be a friendly, outgoing, and loving dog. She greets strangers openly and with interest and greatly enjoys being close to her caregivers.
Due to her age, Heike already has some health limitations. Her eyesight and hearing have deteriorated, and she is likely blind in one eye. However, she manages well in everyday life. Heike also has some skin irritations, which are noticeable, among other things, as bald patches. She is already receiving treatment for this, and her skin has improved significantly. Her fur is also gradually growing back. Veterinary visits are not among Heike's favorite activities. Therefore, she is looking for people who will approach her with calm, patience, and understanding in such situations and provide her with the necessary security. Heike gets along with other dogs depending on their compatibility. We wish for Heike a calm and loving home where she can have the time she needs to settle in. With empathetic people by her side, she will develop into a loyal and grateful companion who will bring her people much joy. The adoption process for one of our dogs usually proceeds as follows: At least three visits to Sonnenhof are planned. These visits are very important to us, because during this time you can get to know your potential new companion, and he can get to know you. Before the dog can finally move in with you, we will conduct a pre-adoption check at your home.
