I'm Hope
—a bulldog with character, heart, and yes, a stubborn streak of my own.
This is me:
At the shelter, I'm approachable, friendly, and very people-oriented—but also typical of bulldogs: confident, curious, food-motivated, and also stubborn. I love cuddles when the circumstances are right. I came to my old home in a lot of pain and with frequent false pregnancies; unfortunately, this wasn't treated. In this overwhelming situation, I had a biting incident there. Here at the shelter, I receive medical care and am taken seriously—that's doing me a world of good.
Unfortunately, I already have hip dysplasia with arthritis, and I'm also allergic. I can wear a muzzle, know basic commands, travel calmly in the car, and even get along with cats. And yes: I'm very careful to make sure no food falls on the floor… My new home needs to be mindful of this. Also, I can be quite protective of my territory – but with good management, this should be manageable. I'm looking for a loving home with experience with my breed or at least with dogs, clear rules, and people who take me seriously without pressuring me. A ground-floor home or one with an elevator is important to me so my joints are protected. I can be very opinionated about food; I need reliable management to avoid conflicts. If we click, I could also get along with an existing dog. My hip pain medication is covered by the shelter; additional physiotherapy would be ideal. Allergy-friendly food is essential for me, as is a calm, structured daily routine. Is a demanding, stubborn dog exactly what you're missing for your happiness?
