I'm Hank
... a young Giant Schnauzer who loves being active and learning. I've been trained in dog sports and I'm eager to work.
Would you like to know more about me?
I was rescued for animal welfare reasons. As is typical for Giant Schnauzers, it takes me a little longer to warm up to strangers. Once you've won my heart, I'm open, playful, and a bit of a clown. But don't underestimate me: I have a strong will and know exactly what I want – that's why clear, fair leadership is important to me.
I initially think other dogs are great and greet them with lots of barking; in direct contact, I then decide based on whether I like them. I have a definite "macho" streak and sometimes let it show – management, impulse control, and good socialization training help me stay cool. I'm very stressed at the shelter, so I'm really looking forward to a wonderful, trusting human-dog team where I can show what I'm made of. I'm looking for... sporty, dog-experienced people who enjoy training, provide me with mental and physical stimulation (dog sports, scent work, obedience), and take the time to get to know me. A home on the outskirts of a city or in the countryside would be best, because I need lots of exercise and get stressed easily by too much commotion. A compatible resident dog would be possible; there shouldn't be any children in the household. Would you like to be there for me through thick and thin?
