Prisca wasn't supposed to be alive anymore. She was in a kill shelter in France, and the date for her last injection was practically already set.
We decided to give her a chance at a home in Germany and took her in.
In her past, Prisca lived with a homeless person in a pack of dogs. Therefore, it was assumed that she would be friendly with other dogs and calm in her handling of environmental stimuli.
But Prisca proved us wrong. At first, she didn't get along with other dogs. Furthermore, she still displays – even today – displaced prey capture behavior. Meaning: Prisca likes to chase anything that moves quickly. This includes cars, cyclists, horses, etc.
So even though everything didn't go as planned, Prisca has captured our hearts. She is very friendly with people and quickly bonds with her caregivers. Every day, she shows us how grateful she is to now have a worthwhile everyday life and enjoys every little bit of attention and petting.
We trained Prisca daily when we went for walks, and the training quickly bore fruit. She now has good impulse control and has learned to endure exciting movements and not chase after them. She's doing a really great job and wants to please her owner and do her job well.
Her behavior towards other dogs has also normalized. She can walk in a group of dogs without any problems and speaks perfectly normal "dog" in most situations.
Due to this great development, Prisca is now living in a foster home. There she lives with another dog, and things are going well.
She enjoys the peace and quiet she sometimes missed at the animal shelter and is happy to now spend a lot of time with familiar people.
She continues to do a great job at walking and is becoming more confident and calm in her encounters.
Prisca behaves very well in the apartment. She can even stay alone. Prisca also loves riding in the car and loves to nap.
We would like a quieter home for Prisca so she can continue to relax.
We would be happy to place Prisca with people who enjoy long walks – good physical activity is important for this pretty lady. Prisca is also ideally suited to quiet activities; dynamic and stimulating activities, on the other hand, would be counterproductive for Prisca.
We are also looking for people who are willing to continue training Prisca in her hunting behavior—of course, we are happy to support you.
