Edna – the fighter with a big heart

There are dogs whose life story you never forget – Edna is certainly one of them.

She was originally confiscated by the veterinary office from illegal breeding. Her previous "owner" was an unscrupulous breeder for whom she was nothing more than a means to an end. Suspicious, frightened, and in poor health, she came to our animal shelter back then. A uterine infection necessitated immediate spaying – and only then could Edna slowly begin to trust people. After some time, she found a home. Unfortunately, her luck didn't last: After a few years, the conditions there became completely unacceptable from an animal welfare perspective, and so one day Edna stood before us again – once more confiscated by the veterinary office. But this time it was different: Edna recognized the place immediately. She blossomed, as if she had finally arrived home again. She enjoys her walks, appreciates attention, and despite everything, has never lost her zest for life. Today, Edna's hair is visibly gray; the years and her past have left their mark. Her eyes are dull, her ears are badly cropped, and her bones sometimes ache—she therefore takes a painkiller daily, which she tolerates well. She remains initially distrustful of strangers, but whoever wins her heart gains an incredibly loving, watchful, and loyal companion. She seeks closeness, security, and above all, one thing: a secure place in life – very close to her people. If there's one dog who truly deserves a good home, it's Edna. She's been through so much – and yet she's never stopped believing in the good in people.
