This is Baxter – young, a livestock guardian dog mix, and a really sweet guy ❤️
Unfortunately, Baxter hasn't had much luck finding a home so far. Yet he has many qualities that one could wish for in a dog: He is invariably friendly with other dogs, can be left alone without any problems, and is very people-oriented. Even cats are no problem for him.
Baxter is a real cuddly bear; he seeks the company of his people and greatly enjoys being petted. Once he trusts you – and with the right people, that happens surprisingly quickly – he's affectionate, gentle, and simply loves being around. At the same time, Baxter is right in the middle of puberty – and that can be quite something 😅. On walks, he tends to bark at other dogs, and occasionally at other walkers as well. Especially with a large, strong livestock guardian dog mix, this can be quite impressive to bystanders. Therefore, we are looking for people for Baxter who can read dog behavior, are willing to train, and are not deterred by the fact that a young dog still has some issues to deal with. Ideally, Baxter would also prefer a more rural home with a bit more peace and quiet and less everyday hustle and bustle. There he would have the best conditions to settle in and develop positively. A small household with 1-2 consistent caregivers would be ideal. The good news: With the right guidance and consistent training, his areas for improvement can be addressed very effectively. Baxter isn't looking for a perfect home – but rather people who understand that no dog is born perfect. People who are eager to grow alongside him, provide him with security, and support his development. Because behind the barking is a sensitive, lovable dog who finally wants to arrive ❤️
