Power-Pille, so sollte unsere kleine Maus wohl am ehesten genannt werden. Wenn Pille da ist dann merkt man das auch, denn die Hündin macht Stimmung. Artgenossen sind ihr dabei nicht ganz so lieb, je nach Sympathie kommt sie mit ihnen aber auch klar. Pille hat, trotz ihrer mittleren Größe, ordentlich Kraft und muss auf jeden Fall noch in die richtige Bahn gelenkt werden, vor allem beim Laufen an der Leine. Sie ist außerdem definitiv kein Couchpotato und möchte noch viel erleben. Hundesport wäre für sie sicher eine interessante Sache. Menschen mit Hütehund Erfahrung wären für Pille eine tolle Sache, denn die meinungsstarke Maus ist nichts für Anfänger. Momentan üben wir fürs Gassi gehen das verlässliche tragen eines Maulkorbs mit ihr. Kinder und Katzen/Kleintiere sollten nicht im Haushalt leben. Pille wiegt momentan ca. 18 kg.

Power Pill, that's probably the best name for our little mouse. When Pille is there, you can tell, because the dog is in a good mood. She's not so fond of other dogs, but depending on how well she likes them, she can get along with them. Despite her medium size, Pille has a lot of strength and definitely needs to be guided in the right direction, especially when walking on a leash. She's definitely not a couch potato and wants to experience a lot more. Dog sports would certainly be an interesting thing for her. People with experience with herding dogs would be great for Pille, because the opinionated mouse is not for beginners. At the moment we are practicing wearing a muzzle with her when we go for walks. Children and cats/small animals should not live in the household. Pille currently weighs around 18 kg.

Begonnen hatte die Ära des Vereins, als Heinz Schirmer 1963 von der Stadt Osterode den Auftrag erhielt, einen Tierschutzverein ins Leben zu rufen. Zum ersten Vorsitzenden des Tierschutzvereins für Osterode und Umgebung wurden Dr. Janssen, zum Schriftführer Herr Armbrecht und anschließend Frau Orlowski gewählt, die später das Amt der Kassenwartin übernahm und dieses 37 Jahre inne hatte.

Heute ist der Tierschutzverein Osterode und Umgebung ein eingetragener Verein mit Hauptsitz An der Leege 25 in Osterode am Harz und hat derzeit rund 320 Mitglieder.

Seine Aufgaben und Ziele sind die Aufnahme, Pflege und Vermittlung von Fund- und Abgabetieren. Die festangestellten Mitarbeiter*innen ermöglichen den Heimtieren einen geregelten Tagesablauf und sorgen für die Fütterung, Reinigung der Boxen und die Sicherstellung der tierärztlichen Versorgung. Die Hunde ausführen tun überwiegend ehrenamtliche Helfer.

Vermittlungsgespräche und Kontrollen der künftigen Unterbringung gehören ebenso zu den Aufgaben der Tierschützer wie Nachkontrollen bei vermittelten Tieren. Der Verein wird durch Mitgliedsbeiträge und Spenden finanziert. Hinzu kommen Erlöse aus Veranstaltungen wie dem jährlichen Sommerfest im Tierheim oder ähnlichen Aktionen. Auch mit Sponsorengelder ortsansässiger Firmen wird der Verein unterstützt.

The era of the association began when Heinz Schirmer received the order from the city of Osterode in 1963 to set up an animal welfare association. Dr. Janssen was elected as the first chairman of the animal welfare association for Osterode and the surrounding area, Mr. Armbrecht as secretary and then Ms. Orlowski, who later took over the office of treasurer and held this position for 37 years.

Today the animal welfare association for Osterode and the surrounding area is a registered association with its headquarters at An der Leege 25 in Osterode am Harz and currently has around 320 members.

Its tasks and goals are to take in, care for and rehome found and surrendered animals. The permanent employees give the pets a regular daily routine and ensure that they are fed, the boxes are cleaned and that they receive veterinary care. The dogs are mainly walked by volunteers.

Placement discussions and checks on future accommodation are just as much a part of the animal welfare workers' tasks as follow-up checks on rehomed animals. The association is financed through membership fees and donations. There are also proceeds from events such as the annual summer festival at the animal shelter or similar activities. The association is also supported by sponsorship money from local companies.
